What's New at Lutsen Mountains Ski Area, 2008-2009.
New Triple Chair, The Plunge, Additions at Eagle Ridge Resort, and Two New Spas in the Area
Lutsen, MN ? Lutsen Mountains announces a number of new additions for the 2008-09 ski season that promise to enhance the visitor experience at Mid-America?s largest and highest ski area. Highlights include a new triple chairlift, the return of The Plunge ? making its comeback as the steepest run offered among Midwest ski areas ? as well as new additions to Eagle Ridge Resort, and two new spas in the area.
Ski Area Improvements
Increasing capacity to Eagle Mountain?s north-facing expert runs by 30%, a new triple chairlift will be making its debut at Lutsen Mountains in 2008-09. Skiers will board the lift at the base area near the Historic Scandinavian Chalet for a ride to the summit of Eagle Mountain. This lift will be a welcome addition to those looking to ski Eagle and Ullr mountains while staying above the base area, in-turn easing demand for Bridge Lift to the summit of Eagle Mountain.
The Plunge is back! The near vertical drop on the North Face of Moose Mountain will reopen this season. As steep as any run in North America, and the steepest in Mid-America with a 90% slope and winch-cat grooming, The Plunge will challenge both expert skiers and those that are brave enough to try.
- Eagle Ridge Resort
Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains will be opening two new buildings, just in time for ski-season. A new registration building will be located on the north side of the Eagle Ridge campus, adjacent to Catwalk Run. It will feature an expanded lobby and registration area with convenient curb-side parking for check-in. A luxury suite with premium patio-side access to Catwalk Run will fill-in the lower level. This two-bedroom/one-and-a half bath suite will be among the most upscale accommodations on the North Shore with the most convenient ski-in/ski-out access Lutsen Mountains has to offer.
Twelve new one-bedroom condos will make up another new building at Eagle Ridge. These units, as well as the luxury suite, will have upgraded features like Silestone countertops, steam showers, stainless steel appliances, fireplaces, and private balconies.
Over the summer, the pool building was completely renovated with new windows, lighting, anti-skid and anti-fungal tile, new shower fixtures, and repaired and refinished teak furniture.
